Nantum Hits The Rink

A few members of the Nantum team visited Vancouver for some quality time with friends from BentallGreenOak and View. While PD’s Cindy Zhu proudly wore the road team’s jersey and BGO’s Ben Cooper represented the home team, the final score of 2-1 proved it to be a great game for everyone to watch next to the glass!

Did you know the Kraken plays out of the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle? The arena has the goal of being the first net-zero carbon certified arena in the world. When Amazon secured the naming rights for the new stadium back in 2020, Amazon decided to call it Climate Pledge Arena, in honor of The Climate Pledge, co-founded in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism. The Pledge is a rallying call for action—for companies and organizations to commit to net-zero carbon by 2040, a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement, or sooner.

The arena’s goals include:

  1. Create the first International Living Future Institute certified zero carbon arena in the world.

  2. Have zero single-use plastic.

  3. Demonstrate leadership in water quality and water use wherever possible.

  4. Target a 95%+ diversion rate, ie “zero waste.”
