Core Research 2022 Internship Challenge

For Prescriptive Data, fostering new talent is a way to keep our ideas fresh and bring in new ways of thinking about solutions. Our Core Research team sent out a call for the brightest young interns looking for real-world experience working with artificial intelligence and machine learning in the building operations sector over the summer. The selected applicants will work alongside our Core Research team studying and prototyping AI/ML applications for automated building and energy management, earning up to $30,000 over the course of the summer.

FYI, our Core Research Team directs and implements an organization's research and development policies, objectives, and initiatives with a focus on extending AI methodologies, computational techniques, methods and tools in the domain of smart-building technology.

Over 500 students applied in just three weeks from several countries and top universities. The field was narrowed down to 24 Ph.D. & Masters students who were asked to submit a full AI/ML case study. After review, the Core Research team led by Ali Mehmani with the help of building research scientist Gulai Shen asked six candidates to present their case studies. Utilizing ranked-choice voting, the core research team selected two interns: Soroush Senemmar, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas Dallas studying mechanical engineering, and Yuqi Wang, a Ph.D. candidate in computer engineering at Duke University. We know both will bring their knowledge, skills, and insight to Prescriptive Data when they start on June 1.
