Energy Costs Account for Only 1% of Typical Enterprise Tenant Operating Costs

Saving money on your heating bill isn’t saving you as much as you think. The World Green Building Council found that only 1% of a business operating cost is going towards energy usage. For most enterprises, trying to save electricity is literally trying to shave off a fraction of a percent. Staff costs account for 90% of a business operating costs. That means something as simple as absenteeism ends up costing employers an average $2,074 per employee per year.

Keeping your employees happy and healthy will make a bigger impact on a business owners bottom line. Indoor air quality, thermal comfort and lighting are key factors in employee health and comfort. They’re also all factors that can be controlled and optimized with a building automation system.

Building automation systems and the insights they provide are crucial to both increasing energy efficiency and improving the experience for occupiers.
