AUTOMATE PEAK DEMAND CHARGE REDUCTION

What Are Peak Demand Charges?

  • If you are a large commercial or industrial utility customer, chances are that 30%- 70% of your utility bill is made up of demand charges

  • The demand charge is a monthly fee that you pay as part of the cost of maintaining the electric utility’s infrastructure required to deliver electricity to your building

  • On each month’s bill, the demand charge amount is based on how high your energy use measured in kilowatts (kW) peaked during the month

  • The higher your peak usage in kW, the higher your demand charge is going to be

Automated Demand Management (ADM)

AI/ML Peak Demand Curtailment

AI/ML Peak Demand Prediction is leveraged to calculate the optimized demand limit for specific billing periods.

Users can adjust parameters to be more aggressive or less aggressive in reducing peak demand charges.

Nantum utilizes the calculated and optimized demand limit to automate demand management strategies.

This AI-based ECM optimizes the schedule of curtailable and deferrable loads through building management systems to achieve demand load reduction (i.e., peak demand electricity cost) throughout the billing cycles.

Automated Demand Response (ADR) offers customers the ability to stay below an agreed electrical peak for no more than 1 hour per day in exchange for a significant reduction in demand charges.

Peak Demand Visualization

Nantum shows the building operations team their real-time demand benchmark line (red). This is the electric demand “Do Not Cross” or you will set a new peak line.

Automated Alerting

Nantum shows building operators their real-time electric demand and alerts operators before they set a new peak.

New Demand Event

With the click of a button, chief engineers can stop their buildings from setting a new peak.

Event Highlights

Quickly monitor real-time:

  • Demand event time and date

  • Demand load shedding lapsed time

  • kW Load Shed

  • Impact on Comfort

Tenant Comfort Monitoring

Nantum OS minimizes the impact on tenant comfort and allows operators to visualize electric demand reduction alongside real-time indoor air quality.

Automation Stages

Visualize each automation stage, as Nantum executes customized curtailment strategies, such as reducing fan speeds and set points to reduce electric demand.
